Okej so I just realized that I need to justify why Guardian is here. So have some plot.
Quick backstory-- Guardian is the youngest of the Nameless Guardians, which is a set of creatures that are mortal in almost every sense except that they cannot die or get ill, or have their pelts scarred or antlers/spines/horns broken. In order of oldest to youngest, they are:
Father, a one-eyed, grey-coloured feline that is ten feet tall at his shoulder with extremely elaborate horns, antlers, and spines all down his back and tail.
Mother, a ten-eyed, reddish pink feline that is nine feet tall at her shoulder with elaborate horns and spines that are only on her tail.
Brother, an eight-eyed feline with a blue-tinted pelt and a tangled mess of antlers, standing eight feet tall at the shoulder.
Sister, a six-eyed feline with a green-coloured pelt and simple horns that stands seven feet at her shoulder.
Guardian, and you already know.
Normally, they kind of just hang out in an unknown location, known by the Guardian Lions as The Tunnels.Very creative, 10/10 naming, lions. If an entire tribe suddenly is gone from their tunnels, a Guardian will be sent to occupy the tunnels.
So I guess this is where the plot starts?
In order for Guardian to even be in Yugure, he has to be replacing the presence of a tribe. Why?
Because the Catacombs are kind of deadly.
Correction, they are deadly.
Not the roof collapsing, like you'd expect, but toxic smoke coming from the volcanic half. Somewhere on that half, something is spewing acrid smoke that intoxicates the entirety of the Catacombs, and if one stays down for too long, there is the threat of asphyxiation (AKA choking on smoke). That entire half is inaccessible due to it, and it's seeping into the rest of the Catacombs. It's not really known why the smoke has only recently become a threat, as it hasn't bothered the tribe for many generations, and then suddenly the whole tribe is dead. Guardian is safe, for the most part, but the smoke isn't that nice to smell, and aggravates his lungs a lot, so he can't stay down for more than a few hours.
The Catacombs will fill up entirely with smoke after not too long, becoming a deadly fog, seeping out into the rest of Yugure. The first thing major to go would be the Twilight Tree, as the smoke choked off it's roots, being that the Catacomb's major entrance is nestled there. Then the snow would start to melt in the Third Realm. Basically, everything starts dying.Kind of like America will be for the next four years. It's all just a mess.
But no one knows. No one knows of the dangers in the Catacombs until they question Guardian. No one knows that it will kill Yugure from the inside out until the snow that falls melts upon touching the ground, frost never settles into the grass as it grows colder. No one even knows where it comes from. The ground is hot, and there is so little anyone can do to stop Yugure from burning from the inside out.
(If you want the ending of the plot, Eno, I'd be happy to PM it to you. ^^)
