The land had no name, in the first place anyway. It was simply addressed as "the land of wolves" or "the land that belonged to the wolves." More specifically, dire wolves ruled the land. They were fair creatures. They lived with integrity. They did not take a life or land without good reason. These wolves even mastered some powers. Some could control fire, manipulate earth, channel electricity, bend water, and even hypnotize other weaker willed creatures. The range of which their skills were physically allowed was not yet determined.
For the most part, the wolves lived in peace. They ranged all along the land from mountainous wastelands, deciduous forests, barren volcanic deserts, quiet caves, and lovely grasslands. The only other organisms they shared their home with was the more primitive creatures of the country. It was when the dragons came, the Utopian country was destroyed forever. Strange dragons came across the ocean and demanded the land be surrendered to them. When the wolves refused, the dragons took the country by force. Some wolves died. Some dragons died. But war never truly breached.
So many years later, after it had been decided that the desert completely belonged to the dragon clan, it was declared by the reptilian aliens that the river that divided the land would be the borderline of wolf country and dragon country, but wolves were not allowed to trespass in dragon territory though dragons were allowed to trespass wolf territory. This began the time of the Oppression. Wolves were required by Kwasi law to be obedient to the dragon clan, or they would face public execution. Dragons were not allowed to invite wolves into their land or share close relations with the wolves - and that included everything from a casual friendship to intense romantic relationships. The dragon king who lead the clan named the land Kwasi on respects of the land being divided in half, as "Kwasi" literally meant "half."
The wolves faced at least a generation of the Oppression. But in those years of the Oppression, the dragons began to disobey their own kind's law. They snuck to the wolves' side and formed beautiful friendships and lovely mateships with them. This continued on for years, going almost completely unnoticed by the king of the dragons. Even the most respected of warriors that came from the army of the dragon clan was sharing relations with a gorgeous ebony black she-wolf... And from these loveships, mostly, came half dragon, half wolf children: the Dracolupine.
These hybrid children were, usually, dragonic beings covered with wolf fur that possessed the powers of their parents. The first hybrid to be conceived and born was Eclipse, the daughter of the dragon clan's greatest warrior, Syzygy, and the wolves' most beautiful female, Umbra. She would be both very strong and very pretty, not to mention she inherited her mother's psychic abilities. She was born on the night of a Lunar Borealis eclipse. Rumors of a dracolupis traveled fast across the land of the wolves, and this encouraged other couples to have their own hybrids as well. The hybrids were hidden away from all other contact besides their parents, as exposure to the dragon clan would result in chaos.
Many years passed. The oldest hybrid child was now entering her teen years. As her birth would be the beginning of a revolutionary species, her existence and defiant parents would be the first to be found out by the dragon clan... As her life gave revolution, it also gave revelation and rebellion. The warrior was questioned for his frequent absences, and when he could not give a valid excuse, accusations began to fly. They threatened his life while they searched his regular path to find his mate, but they found no sign of his daughter. Umbra and Syzygy were publicly beheaded for their rebellion and defiance to comply with the law. The search for the hybrid child began in the land the wolves. The army pillaged and raided every den and cave and nest and chamber and hoard in the land, discovering more outlaws and defiant couples. Innocent fathers, mothers, dragons, wolves, hybrids, children, pups, hatchlings... They all began to die at the hands of the cruel, merciless, tyrannic dragon clan. The dragon king was enraged.
Word has quickly gotten around that the daughter of Syzygy and Umbra had fled the country. She was last seen taking off toward the sky, never to be see again. Desperate for their children to live, mothers and fathers sent their hybrid children on their ways on rafts on the water and through the winds and even on the backs of other family members. Some couples were brave enough to take off together with their children. Most of those parents were killed, but they died with the assurance that their children may still have a chance at life... The Dracolupine were sent on their ways, alone, off into the unknown. The Kwasi Lands were soaked in blood and tyranny for many years to come...
A time of suffering plagued the land. For those who were hatched and born into this time of war, it never ended, even when it actually did.
The prince of the dragon clan grew older with the war, and he soon grew tired of his father's evil, shadowy hand slaughtering hundreds of innocent lives every year... Though raised by a brute, the prince felt this morally wrong to rule a land in such a way. In his father's sleep, the prince attacked his dad, intending to kill him. In his anxious, weakened elder state, the king was no match for his young, spirited son. A new rule came over the war, and in the new king's demand, there would be no more war.
The land belonged to both wolf and dragon. The dragons were to pay their respects to the wolves to make up for all they had done. The wolves and dragons could come and go as they pleased. Discrimination could not be prevented, but it could be controlled. Harm of the self, those around you, and even those you despised was not permitted. The prince of the Cruel King was infinite times a king than his father ever was, thus earning him the title of the King of Peace.
Only a few dragons and wolves remained, but it made for an easy rebuilding of the two species and the land. Slowly, and miraculously, the hybrids returned. The Dracolupine children were no longer children, but full grown adults, and the infants who were born from war and abandoned eggs came racing home. Mostly, the returned Dracolupine were deemed parent-less now, if not, family-less... It was a time of grief and healing. Luckily, a few successful reunions were assembled. Widows and sons. Widowers and daughters. Brothers and sisters. Aunts and nieces. Uncles and nephews. Cousins...
Some hybrids came home to no one.
Some hybrids never came home at all.
There were no "mother and father and child" family reunions.
The daughter of Syzygy and Umbra returned as a full grown adult. The dragons, wolves, and hybrids of all the country paid their respects to her, as she had begun "project: runaway." The Dracolupine thanked her for her bravery, as they had all followed her in search of safety. Not all hybrids made it, obviously, but her shot in the dark had lead the majority to survival in places elsewhere. The wolves welcomed her home. The dragons offered her shelter and a tour of the home she never truly knew. She even rediscovered the cave in which she was born in. In a month, Eclipse, daughter of Syzygy and Umbra, returned to Yugure, where her new home needed her more, as war was breaching in Second Realm.
Since the many years of Oppression and War, peace has sustained itself in Kwasi Land. Dragon, wolf, and Dracolupis now live together in harmony.
