Yasamin clucked curiously and chased after the bee, which was buzzing about from flower to flower. The hen looked and thought it was just resting at every flower, but when she leaned over to look closer she saw it was not so. The bee was simply gathering up the yellow dusty stuff in the flower's middle. She watched the bee and followed it for a long time before loosing interest. She was now trailing after something that looked like a tiny, flying stick. It looked just like a stick, except very small and the leaves were transparent rather than a rich green color. When it stopped and settled itself on a leaf, Yasamin ran up to it and looked at it closely. Her interest was soon lost as she realised it was only a crane fly, and waddled away without looking back. There was a patch of clovers in the grass that looked quite tasty, so she took the trouble to run a whole yard over to them and eat up quite a few before she stopped and bolted away from the clovers. She had spotted a bunch of grapes and had wanted them. She ate a lot of grapes in a matter of seconds, and it only took a minute for all the grapes to be eaten. Yasamin abandoned the stem of the grapes and went to a short tree and jumped in it, tucked her beak neatly under her wing and fell asleep with the sunlight shining through the leaves.

The chicken was not alone however. Sitting in the shade of a tree watching the chicken out of curiosity, was Rubeus. The bee which Yasamin had been chasing earlier came too close to the imp-like creature, and in a matter of seconds the life was drained from the insect, the body falling to the ground by Rubeus' feet. "Hmm..." He sighed, noticing the chicken had fallen asleep. I guess that's the end of that show. He floated up and landed neatly on his feet, quietly going over to the chicken. The sunlight burned his body slightly, but he ignored the pain. I wonder if anyone would miss a chicken...Eh, who cares. I need more energy. He thought, sinking into the bird's shadow.

Yasamin woke up the next morning. She looked between the tree branches and saw a little patch of honeysuckle right at the base of the tree. With a hungry and curious cluck, she hopped out of the tree and was about to go get a little drink of water before eating them, but she felt sleepy still. So she just sat down at the bottom of the tree and started to pick the honeysuckle's petals off. Their sweet honey-like taste was refreshing, but the hen still felt like going back into the tree and going to sleep again. But after eating the honeysuckle she felt still more thirsty, so she got up and started to go to the pond. Yasamin settled down near the water's edge and looked at her reflection, then took a little sip of water. It was very clear, cold, and refreshing to the hen. She stood up and started to make little holes in the mud, then filled them up with twigs and such. She looked up at the water and watched little leaves float by, sometimes snagging on a small stone that was sticking slightly out of the water. Occasionally a fresh leaf fell and landed near her toes. She let out a little purring noise and started to fall asleep near the river. Just then, Yasamin suddenly realized that it was too nice of a day to just go to sleep, even though it was a very pleasant thing to do when it was warm and sunny, and the water was flowing by with little relaxing trickling noises with the scent of wood and leaves all about. She stood up and tiredly began to trot away to look for more food, as the honeysuckles weren't nearly filling enough. She spotted a beetle and chased it, running after it as quick as she could. Catching it in her black beak, she pulled it down and ate it without hesitation. Pleased at her catch, she sat down and started to wipe her beak on the still dew-covered grass, which cleaned it. Despite the fact that she didn't want to, Yasamin found herself drifting off into sleep again.

Ah, nice, refreshing energy. Rubeus thought as he slowly absorbed the chicken's energy, taking his time. He was in no rush after all. As the time passed however, the creature began getting bored with the bird just sleeping. A hand reached out of Yasamin's shadow, gently grasping one of her feathers between the Phasuma's claws. In one swift motion, Rubeus plucked out the feather and retreated back into her shadow. Playing with food is fun. He thought gleefully to himself, focusing on draining the chicken's energy again.

Yasamin squawked as a feather fell from the rest. She knew this couldn't have happened naturally, otherwise it wouldn't even hurt. And it wasn't yet molting season. Something had pulled out her feather, but when she looked around there was no one in sight. She hopped up, forgetting that she was sleepy, and spun around looking for the one who did this. But there was no one, and she couldn't deny this. But instead of just giving up on her search, she continued and ran all over the place, looking under bushes and into trees, and behind every rock. Yasamin sometimes even checked the dirt for loose soil that may have been dug into recently. That's just the kind of hen she is. She ran to the pond and checked in the water, staring at it suspiciously. Just then she glanced over and saw her own shadow and started to peck at it angrily just before she realized that it was actually just her blocking out the sunlight, forming the shape of a dark hen on the ground. Yasamin eventually gave up and sat down near the river again and pulled leaves out of the water and laid them each out to dry. When she had a neat little row of leaves, she watched the tadpoles swim around in the water while she waited for the leaves to finish drying. But during her waiting she fell asleep again.

Shade finally decides to come out of his pocket dimension, forming from the shadows made from a nearby bush, and sitting down boredly. Taking his time to look around he spotted a fairly small chicken running around but deciding there was nothing strange with chickens exploring he ignored the chicken...until he felt a darkness looming over the chicken. His curiosity forcing him to investigate, even though the chicken was asleep he figured he may as well wait for the chicken to wake up once again, thinking about how odd it is for a chicken to be sleeping as much as this chicken has been

Sensing the other shadow creature, Rubeus quickly slid out of Yasamin's shadow, not wanting to be suspected. He went up into a tree and reformed, trying to act like nothing had happened. "Hello Shade." He purred, purple eyes blinking at the wolf from above. "This chicken here has been very odd, don't you agree? She was making a racket earlier, and now...well, as you can see..." The Phasuma gestured to her sleeping state. "Perhaps it's a new type of sickness? Ah, well. It's only a chicken." Rubeus floated down and landed in front of Shade.

Shade had sensed the darkness leaving the chicken...seconds before Rubeus appearing by the tree "Quite an odd illness then, that leaves darkness over its victim and drains their very life-force, very strange indeed" he responded in a very sarcastic tone to Rubeus, knowing that he was the one affecting the chicken

"I don't even know why I tried to lie." Rubeus said, narrowing his eyes at Shade. "Well, anyways, this chicken and what little energy it has left is mine." He growled, daring him to do something. A Phasuma needs to take others energy to live, we can't develop it on our own. Besides, it's just a chicken. He better not try anything. He thought, entering Yasamin's shadow again to start draining the rest of her energy.

Shade shrugs "Cant stop you even if I wanted too, pacifist, remember?" he slowly looks down at the chicken again "But I warn you, that chicken isnt as brainless as you think, and your slowly killing something as intelligent as you are, perhaps even more intelligent than you"

Yasamin awoke again, feeling slightly less sleepy than before. She started to stand up, but then the sleepiness came back and she laid down again. Standing near the river, the hen dipped her head into the water and drank a few sips before pecking at some clover, then pushed aside a little dirt to eat a few bugs. Just after that, however, she went back to the sleeping place and settled down into another doze. Yasamin was still sleeping, dozing and snoring ever so slightly. The trickling river made the most relaxing of sounds, and occasionally a leaf fluttered by with a whiir whiiir sound. It was warm and comfortable.

He let out a mock gasp. "Ouch, that hurt." He laughed, starting to drain the chicken's energy again. After what Shade said however, his curiosity for the chicken grew. After a moment her stopped and came back out into his physical form. Ignoring the wolf, Rubeus poked the sleeping chicken with a claw. "Hey, wake up." He said loudly, poking the chicken more.

Yasamin blinked, confused, as a weird claw-like paw poked her. She looked up to see an imp like creature standing over her. She blinked again, in confusion. "Hello!" she clucked, sitting up. "What're you, exactly?" she gave a friendly, chicken-like smile. Her comb straightened with interest, and she cocked her head slightly with curiosity.

So he was right. It is intelligent. And...cute. Rubeus thought, losing the desire to drain her energy. "Hello." He greeted, crouching down. "I'm a Phasuma." He doubted she would know what that was, but he didn't feel like going into further detail. "Do you have a name chicken?" The Phasuma's tail swished behind him, making dead leaves crackle as he disturbed them.
