Extinction
"These halls... They are quite empty without the family lurking about." Ordealis said from within his castle in Akumu realm. His star-like eyes traveled about the lonesome hall, taking in the information that there was now not a soul within the castle save for Ordealis and Karthax, his dragon. The conjuration of haze lifted himself from his throne and began to walk about the castle corridors and chambers, reminiscing on the history of the castle when he began to rule it. "I know many of you were happy to leave my rule, but so were many of you sad to leave me..." Ordealis muttered to himself as he left the dining hall.
"You always have my company." Karthax said from outside the castle, his voice clearly audible as it boomed and echoed within the stone fortress. "Of course, but... the quietness. It is.. odd, almost as haunting as the silence I cast upon my village when I caused the near total extinction of my kind..." Ordealis himself grew silent at his words. He had not spoken a word more as he walked about the castle, taking in how dead and silent it was.
Ordealis now made his way outside the castle gates, Karthax resting atop the spire of a tower behind Ordealis. The dragon opened an eye from its rest to look to its master roam outside the castle, quietly sighing and closing its eye after. Ordealis had made his way to the mountain-top beside his castle and sat down, his eyes looking throughout the realm to remember what he had done to claim it.
"I will bring you back..."
Exodus
Ordealis would be floating in the sky in his mobile wisp-like shape. His attention was settled on the creatures that fled from their world, escaping the black haze that crept throughout the planet, slowly corrupting the creatures that simply could not escape in time; making them fall in a deep sleep in the dense abyss. "Their screams... They remind me of the clan." Karthax sighed, keeping himself aloft in the air by flapping his metallic wings; something the dragon would never do often.
"You were angry that they could not understand you, you did what you thought was best." Karthax said. His amber eyes focused on the fleeing creatures, tempted to grab some for a meal. "But it was not for the best. I am now the last of my kind and am now seeking to fix that by killing more. There is something wrong with that, Karthax.." The essence looked to Karthax with an unimpressed look as he heard the dragon chuckle. "Death happens everywhere. Besides the strong prey on the weak and the weak simply feed off of what they can find." Ordealis simply shook his head and resumed looking at the creatures run from their world.
After an extended period had passed and the haze had completely taken over the realm the dragon huffed a breath, "I do not know why you keep dreaming of your past conquers, it's really pointless. You could be using this time to kill more creatures and such. Besides, even in a dream it is hard to keep myself flying... I do weigh a lot as you know." Ordealis snickered as the dragon recalled its weight problem and flying. "Yes, I know. Metallic and all. But.. I like to dream of these scenarios because the creatures remind me of the clan. But if you wish to leave the dream we may."
"Good. Besides, you can also work on your little resurrection while we're awake."
Salvation
"You know they will not do such a thing, Ordealis..." Karthax told to his friend with a worrisome tone in his voice. The two creatures were in another one of Ordealis' dreams except.. this was not a dream, this is what Ordealis would see coming in the future. Karthax and Ordealis himself would be resting atop the stone monuments within the second realm, a corrupted second realm. "I know," Ordealis said quietly, a melancholy hue in his voice. "They are kind creature but they are not that kind."
The two beings looked at many creatures layed throughout the realm, sleeping endlessly and for eternity. Many of these creatures sleeping within the realm were of Enoki's clan but there were many other noticeable creatures endlessly living through their nightmares and fears; Tracks, Enoki, Shade, Meyarnu, Eclipse, Monsoon, Miindohil and many of the other creatures that were resisting Ord's rule.
"Then if you know why do you not simply crush them now?!" Karthax snapped at Ordealis, his voice booming throughout the realm. Quickly the dragon realized what he had done and closed his metallic maw, raising his voice at Ordealis was something he learned long ago to never do though... the essence did nothing to punish the dragon this time for raising; he simply laid on the ground and stared at the corrupted realm. "Because.. she would not look at me the same if she knew I was doing this."
"Your weakness towards your emotions will be your end, Ordealis..." The dragon wise-cracked at Ordealis, figuring if he was not going to punish him for raising his voice he was not going to do anything for saying such.
"And your fear of me will return if you say such a thing again, Karthax. Know why you are still alive at my side..."
Absolution
"You know," Karthax began with, "they were right when they said outside magic was a danger to your kind." his amber eyes looking at Ordealis in question. The two creatures were perched upon a high cliff in yet another dream. This dream was of the day Ordealis had betrayed his own kind and seeked a higher calling; stronger magic. From their view they could see the tribe below them shun the traitor
and cast him out of the village; exiling him.
"It's not outside magic that was a danger to my kind; it's that they were afraid of what would happen to us if we accepted outside magic.. They were afraid of having too much power; the ignorance..." Ordealis hissed with a hate in his voice. The dream would begin to rewind and restart at the moment where Ordealis was being cast out. Except, now, the creatures were forgiving Ordealis for what he had done which caused the dreamed Ordealis to return to his clan without seeking a higher calling.
Ordealis glared at what he saw, hating what he was witnessing but he knew this was his dream so this is what he wanted to see. "Ordealis I know you're not doing this just because you want her back, you're doing this to bring them all back. But yet even with the power you have, which is enough to bring them all back, twice over, you still wish to eradicate the creatures that live in Yugure. You don't have to do that you know.. Just bring your people back and leave."
Ordealis grew a displeased look as he listened to Karthax go on about leaving the creatures of Yugure alone, causing him to snap at the dragon, "I will do so because I can, Karthax! Is there a problem with that?" The giant metallic dragon staggered in finding an answer. He simply shook his head, "No, Ordealis.. Apologies."
"I thought as much. Besides, who am I to take advice on sparing creatures from the very dragon who killed his family?"
Resolution
"They would never understand why I am doing all of this nor would they pardon it. I know the outcome of what will happen, but.. it's worth it. Good does always triumph in the end..." Ordealis said as he looked at the empty courtyard of his castle from the spire of the guard tower; Karthax resting upon it as well. "Who says what you are doing isn't the good thing? It is, you simply have ignorant wretches delaying your task. If anything they are the villains and will lose." Karthax said to Ordealis, his words more gentle than usual.
"I am the villain because they have said so themselves... The villains always lose and die in the end of every story, Karthax, there is no need to comfort me with lies... They have defeated you once, they will do so again. Neither am I as powerful as I used to be, we both know that. All of my magical power is being held back for the resurrection, what little will remain is inside the gem I gave Zenaku. Should I die at least I will be able to speak to her." His words were empty and contained no hint of emotional tone to them. Except.. there was a melancholic sound in his voice; saddening. He knew he was going to die no matter what he did.
The giant metallic dragon beside him remained quiet through all this. 'He has changed too much...' Karthax thought to himself. The dragon rumbled and began to crawl to the ground from the tower. "You or I shall not die because I will not allow it, I will eradicate them and cause their extinction. The second realm will be ours and the creatures will forever be stuck inside the dream realm, from there forth you, or I, shall not die and your goal shall be reached." Karthax said with a hiss in words. The dragon was not going to let a few creatures ruin what these two worked for for nearly a century.
Karthax conjured a large portal in front of him as he made his way to the ground. The portal would quickly transport him to The Second Realm of Yugure. "I shall be back soon Ordealis.."
"I hope so..."
Revelation
"I worry for your Ordealis... I witnessed what happened today. You could have died if they attacked you, you were vulnerable to anything." Karthax said to his ally, his friend. The giant, steely dragon looked down at the hazy creature who was seemingly disappearing from reality. Ordealis wasn't looking like his usual self at all; the source of Karthax's worries. Ordealis was sickly looking to those who knew him well enough. He was ghastly, almost transparent, no longer a dense cloud of black haze was forming him, instead a faint amount of said haze is all that was keeping him together at the moment.
Both the creatures were laying, resting in their home realm; Akumu. Ordealis was resting on his stomach, eyes struggling to look up to the obsidian dragon. "I... know they... could have." He said, breaths being taken in-between words. "But... They wouldn't ha--"
"They well would have killed you!" The dragon shouted, raising his voice to Ordealis. He knew that in Ordealis' current state not even he could tame Karthax. "You risked everything. If you had died what would happen to everything we had worked for? It would all crumble beneath our feet in an instant. Why..." Is what Karthax ended with, firey amber eyes beaming down at Ordealis.
"Because... I..." Ordealis began to say before being cut off once more by the dragon, "Because you were being ignorant." he hissed. "You think they would still be afraid of you even as you are now? No, they would have taken the advantage and kill you. Now I will give you the last word before I depart to find you a magic conduit."
"I... wanted to... enjoy one of... my last few... days... as my... real self..." Is all Ordealis said, eyes dimming until they were shut closed for him to return to his deep slumber.
